Related-party ledgers that survive auditor scrutiny

Family ownership structures common among Ibaraki manufacturers often mean shared warehouses, informal management fees, and loans that never appear in a formal contract. None of that is automatically improper — but undocumented balances become audit friction.

Keep a living register of entities under common control, directors with overlapping interests, and any guarantee given to a bank for a sister company. Reconcile intercompany receivables monthly; year-end surprises usually come from freight charges or staff secondments booked on only one side.

When auditors ask for board minutes authorizing related-party transactions, produce them without apology. Clear minutes and matching invoices shorten testing and reduce the chance of a disclosure emphasis in the auditor’s report.
